A virtual paralegal is ideal for small firms or a solo practices that primarily keep electronic files. However, a system can be worked out between the virtual paralegal and the attorney/firm that best suits the needs of the particular situation.

Email and document sharing sites such as Dropbox are heavily utilized. For projects with large amounts of documents that are difficult to share electronically, the virtual paralegal can pick up the documents from the attorney/firm, or receive the documents via regular mail.

Expectations for projects and outcomes are defined and agreed upon in writing before starting any work on a project. A paralegal’s work product is incorporated into the attorney’s work product, therefore, the virtual paralegal’s work must be reviewed by an attorney.
